The retablo
About an hour and a half from Puebla. The real attraction here is the ex-convent, which has the oldest complete “retablo” (the paintings and woodwork behind the church alter) in the Americas. If you’re lucky, one of the guides might take you onto the roof of the convent, from which you an wander around the building and even peek into the high church windows.
